This is a photo of the male towee. He looks like a drab, quiet, unassuming bird, doesn't he? It seems like he would only be interested in finding food and raising his young, like any normal bird.
You would never know that this little dude has figured out how to drive Chiweenies crazy with frustration! AND he enjoys doing it!
We have a huge yard behind the house that is enclosed by a 6 foot high board fence. A portion of this is our Chiweenie yard and is separated from the rest of the back yard with a wire mesh fence.
The towee comes in our part of the yard and takes dust baths right under our noses! Naturally we feel compelled to chase him.
Any ordinary bird would just fly away. Not this guy! He RUNS across the yard, letting us get really close to him.
Just as one of us is about to catch him, he runs smoothly through one of the rectangular openings in the wire fence, while we are brought up short by the barrier. We madly try to get through, over or under the fence to catch this insolent bird and teach him a lesson.
He still doesn't fly away. He stays on the other side of the fence, just out of reach, and taunts us, running up close to the fence and then running away again!
Oh! Someday he's going to cut it too close! Then we'll teach him why it's not a good idea to tease a Chiweenie.
